Sandburg students have multiple opportunities to help pay college expenses. We encourage you to check out the scholarship opportunities outlined below.


Foundation Scholarships

Thanks to our generous donors, Carl Sandburg College Foundation is able to award over $100,000 each year in scholarship dollars to Sandburg students. High school, adult learners and returning students - everyone is eligible to apply. Apply between October 1 and March 15 for the upcoming year.  We encourage all students to apply.

Athletic Scholarships for students with exceptional talent in athletics.

Galesburg Promise for students who attended school in Galesburg, IL. 

Presidential Scholarships based on academic excellence.

Sampson Promise for students who have graduated from United High School or Monmouth-Roseville High School in Illinois.

Study Abroad Scholarships for students who qualify for Pell to participate in Study Abroad. 

Talent Scholarships for students with exceptional talent in music, theatre, art, creative writing and journalism. 

Discover Scholarships 

Offered to non-traditional students who enroll in academic programs selected by the college.  These scholarships provide $1500 to selected students to pay toward tuition and fees.  Priority application date is April 30 and final deadline is July 31.  To apply: 1.  Complete the FAFSA. 2. Apply for the Discover Scholarship (Login to mySandburg, Go to "Student Apps", Click on the "Scholarship Application" button and complete the form).  For more information contact the Welcome Center at 309.345.3500.

Dual Credit Success Scholarships

Offered to students who participated in Dual Credit during high school. To be eligible for the scholarship, students are required to complete at least six dual credit hours, complete the FAFSA, have a grade point average at Sandburg of a 3.0 or higher, and complete the DC Success Scholarship application. The college selects and awards these students to promote enrollment following high school. Awards are $1,500 for the first year of full time enrollment following high school graduation.   

WYSE Academic Challenge Talent Grant

Academic Scholarships are offered to area high schools who will take part in the Worldwide Youth in Science & Engineering (WYSE) Academic Challenge.  Each high school that enters a team of at least six students will receive a talent scholarship — a full-tuition scholarship for a full-time student at Sandburg.  For more information contact the Welcome Center at 309.345.3500.
