Our trip in June will take us to the lovely town of Decorah, Iowa located in the bluff country of Northeast Iowa. Decorah was voted “one of the Midwest’s top 100 small town getaways” by Midwest Living Magazine. Our first stop in Decorah will be to the Versterheim Norwegian-American Museum where we will experience a guided tour of the museum complex. The Versterheim is a national treasure that explores the diversity of American immigration through the lens of Norwegian-American experience, showcases the best in historic and contemporary Norwegian folk and fine arts, and preserves living traditions through classes in Norwegian culture and folk art, including rosemaling (decorative painting), woodcarving and woodworking, knife making, and textile arts. Our next stop will be the famous, Seed Saver Exchange that saves and shares heirloom seeds of our garden heritage, forming a living legacy that can be passed down through generations. We will take a guided tour of the gardens and you can shop in the Lillian Goldman Visitors Center that offers a wide selection of heirloom seeds, horticultural books and garden gifts. Lunch will be on the Heritage Farm grounds and catered by the Water Street Café, ONEOTA Community Food Coop that specializes in fresh, local, natural and organic foods. We will stop on the return leg for a light dinner (on your own). Price includes deluxe motor coach transportation, snack on the bus enroute to Decorah, Vesterheim Museum Admission, catered lunch, Seed Saver Exchange Guided Tour, and motor coach gratuities.
