Illinois State Food Handler (Restaurant/Non-Restaurant) Training
Food Handlers are individuals working with unpackaged food, food equipment or utensils, or food-contact surfaces.
Two categories of training are identified by the State of Illinois:

  • Restaurant – any business that is primarily engaged in the sale of ready-to-eat food for immediate consumption. Requires 2 hours training.
  • Non-Restaurant – such facilities such as nursing homes, licensed daycare homes/facilities, hospitals, schools, long-term care facilities and retail food stores. Requires 1 hour training.
