FREEPORT—The Carl Sandburg College softball team dropped a pair of games at the Highland East/West Tournament on Saturday, losing 11-3 to DuPage and 5-3 to Joliet.
Freshman Danielle Kenney (Stark County) had two of the Chargers’ five hits against DuPage and drove in a run. Sophomore shortstop Jordyn Chasteen (Canton) had the other RBI for Sandburg (9-21). Freshman Hannah Mixer took the loss in the circle after allowing nine runs (none earned) in 3 2/3 innings.
Sandburg led Joliet 3-2 after the fifth, but the Wolves tied it in the sixth and scored twice in the seventh against freshman Katie McGee (Galesburg) to win it. Sophomore Kaylee Moseley (Rockridge) drove in two runs, and Kenney and sophomore Tesha Woolley (Princeton) each had a pair of hits for the Chargers.
Sandburg’s next game is an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Kishwaukee.
