Sandburg Men’s Basketball Falls in Season Opener

OTTUMWA, Iowa—The Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team lost its season opener 109-84 to No. 5-ranked Indian Hills on Friday as part of the Indian Hills Classic.

Sophomore guard Seth Wickert scored a team-high 18 points to lead the Chargers (0-1). Sophomore forward Marvin Nunn and freshman forward Aaron Powers each scored 16, and freshman forward Mitch Wendling added 10 points for Sandburg, which shot 44 percent from the field and had nine players see at least 13 minutes of action.

“We played very well against an outstanding basketball team,” Chargers coach Ryan Twaddle said. “We were right there all night. I am very proud of our team.”
