GALESBURG—A rally for the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team will take place at noon March 24 in the Student Center on the Main Campus in Galesburg, 2400 Tom L. Wilson Blvd., to congratulate the Chargers on their recent trip to the NJCAA Division II national tournament.

The Chargers led in the second half of both of their contests at the national tournament in Danville but were eliminated after two games. Sandburg dropped its opening game 56-53 to second-seeded Wayne County (Mich.) on Tuesday and was knocked out with an 83-70 loss to Potomac State (W. Va.) on Wednesday.

The Chargers advanced to nationals for the first time in program history after winning their first Region IV District A tournament championship, knocking off three of the tourney’s top four seeds. The Chargers finished the season with an 18-16 record.
