No. 3 ICC Tops Chargers 68-37

EAST PEORIA—Third-ranked Illinois Central handed the Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team a 68-37 loss on Saturday afternoon.


The Cougars (16-2) jumped to a 34-17 lead at halftime and held the Chargers (8-7) to 25 percent from the floor for the contest (13 of 52). Sophomore forward Marysa Remick (Victoria, Ill./ROWVA) led the Chargers with 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Sophomore forward Destini Bollinger (Asotria, Ill./Astoria) and sophomore guard Jordyn Chasteen (Canton, Ill./Canton) each had seven rebounds for Sandburg.


Chanta Wright scored a game-high 20 for ICC. The Cougars also got 15 points from Gabby Williams and 11 from Michaela Kumer.


Sandburg’s Arrowhead Conference games scheduled for this evening against Black Hawk has been canceled because Black Hawk does not have enough players. The Chargers’ next game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday against Kishwaukee at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.
