GALESBURG—Fourteenth-ranked Kishwaukee jumped to an early lead and handed the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team a 93-71 Arrowhead Conference loss Tuesday at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.

The Kougars led 53-33 at halftime. Sophomore forward Jeremy Brown (Chillicothe, Ill./Illinois Valley Central) led the Chargers (15-12, 5-5) with 23 points, and fellow sophomore forward Aaron Powers (Springfield, Ill./Lanphier) added 17.

“We came out flat tonight and Kishwaukee didn’t,” Chargers coach Ryan Twaddle said. “Our effort this season has been very inconsistent. I hope we are able to put this game behind us and move on. We have the conference leader coming to our place Thursday, we will need to play much better.”

Sandburg closes its home schedule when it faces Highland at 7:30 p.m. Thursday for Sophomore Night. The Chargers will honor their seven sophomores — Juwan Hubbard, Zach Ziemba, Matt Sagona, Jake Warner, Mitch Wendling, Aaron Powers and Jeremy Brown — prior to the contest.
