Late Surge Leads Sauk Valley Past Chargers

DIXON—Sauk Valley pulled away late to hand the Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team a 74-60 Arrowhead Conference loss Tuesday.


The Chargers (7-15, 1-7) led 33-32 at halftime and the teams were knotted at 51-51 when the Skyhawks’ Lydia Box hit back-to-back 3-pointers to put Sauk Valley ahead for good.


Box finished with a game-high 31 points. Freshman forward Marysa Remick (ROWVA) led Sandburg with 18 points.


“We played well for about 28 minutes, and then when it came time to earn a win we once again failed to do so,” Chargers coach Mike Bailey said.


Sandburg is back in conference action at 5:30 p.m. Thursday against Black Hawk East at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.
