Highland Hands Chargers Arrowhead Conference Loss

FREEPORT—Highland put together a big second half and handed the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team an 85-56 Arrowhead Conference loss on Wednesday night.


The Chargers (12-9, 2-3) trailed the Cougars (14-6, 3-1) by 36-31 at halftime, but Highland pulled away thanks to a 28-8 burst during a 10-minute stretch of the second half.


Highland’s Joseph Gripper scored 16 points to lead four Cougars in double figures. Grant Prusator and Moshawn Thomas each scored 13, and Demarco Henry added 10 points for Highland.


Sandburg hosts Sauk Valley at 7:30 p.m. tonight at John M. Lewis Gymnaisum in the first game of a home-and-home set between the teams. The Chargers will play at Sauk Valley at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
