Chargers Take 10th in Invites at Knox, Monmouth

GALESBURG—The Carl Sandburg College women’s golf team posted a pair of 10th-place finishes in the Knox Invitational on Friday at Soangetaha Country Club and the Fighting Scot Invitational on Saturday at Gibson Woods Golf Course in Monmouth.


The Chargers’ team score of 390 on Friday was their lowest of the season and a 51-stroke improvement from their first round of the season. Danielle Kenney’s 15-over par 87 tied her for 24th individually overall. Freshman Skylar Neeley Houzenga (Erie) shot a 97, sophomore Ellen Corbin (Washington) added a 98 and freshman Madison Fuller (Galesburg) and Sydney Magedanz (Mercer County) each carded a 108.


Sandburg followed with a 403 on Saturday, finishing ahead of three other squads. Neeley Houzenga and Kenney each shot 98, while Corbin carded a 100 and Fuller came in at 107.


The Chargers are on the course again when they host Lincoln in a dual match at 1 p.m. Sept. 19 at Lake Bracken Country Club.
