GALESBURG—One week after being named to the All-Region IV District L first team, Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball sophomore Destini Bollinger (Astoria, Ill./Astoria) has added another honor. Bollinger was named to the All-Arrowhead Conference second team, the league announced Tuesday.

A 5-foot-10 forward, Bollinger started all 23 games she played before missing the final four contests of the Chargers’ season with a knee injury. She led Sandburg in rebounding (4.7 per game), steals (2.5) and tied freshman Sadee Hamilton (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) for the team lead with 14 total blocks. Bollinger also finished second on the team in scoring (7.5) and field goal percentage (46.4 percent), and she was third on the squad in assists per game (2.0).

“This is a great honor for Destini, and she deserves it for the type of season she had,” Chargers coach Mike Bailey said. “She was a real difference-maker for us when she was on the floor, and she was one of the only players in the conference who could change the game just on the defensive end.”

First Team: Ashanti Davis (MVP, freshman, Kishwaukee), Tami Morice (sophomore, Kishwaukee), Jordan Giddings (freshman, Sauk Valley), Jessica Jessen (sophomore, Illinois Valley), Regina McClarn (sophomore, Highland)

Second Team: Sheldeen Joseph (sophomore, Sauk Valley), Marisha Moore (sophomore, Highland), Destini Bollinger (sophomore, Carl Sandburg), Aleena Hammelman (freshman, Sauk Valley), Morgan Dean (freshman, Sauk Valley).

Co-Coaches of the Year: Karen Wiley (Kishwaukee) and Jebediah Johnson (Sauk Valley)
