MONMOUTH—The Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team lost 95-81 at Monmouth JV on Sunday afternoon.

Playing their first game in nearly two weeks, the Chargers (5-3) trailed 51-31 at halftime. Freshman guard Juwan Hubbard (Rockford, Ill./Guilford) and sophomore guard Seth Wickert (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) each scored 17 to lead Sandburg.

“We knew we would be a little rusty coming back from having close to two weeks off. Our execution was off all game long but Monmouth had a lot of do with that,” Chargers coach Ryan Twaddle said. “We are a young team that still has a hard time playing hard for 40 minutes, and Monmouth made us pay for taking plays off at both ends.”

The Chargers play at Eureka JV at 8 p.m. Monday.
