Chargers Fall in 4 Sets to Waubonsee

GALESBURG—The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team lost to Waubonsee 26-24, 18-25, 25-20, 25-23 on Friday night in a nonconference match at John Lewis Gymnasium.


The Chargers (11-11) were led by freshman setter Lexa Mahr’s 40 assists, nine kills and four digs. Sophomore libero Dani Lessard added 12 digs and three kills, and sophomore middle hitter Caitlyn Godfrey had a team-high 17 kills to go along with four aces, four digs and two blocks. Freshman middle hitter Caitlin McVay picked up seven kills and a team-best five blocks for Sandburg.


The Chargers travel to face Illinois Valley at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Arrowhead Conference action and host Black Hawk at 6 p.m. Wednesday in another conference match. Wednesday’s contest will also be Sandburg’s Pack the Place and Volley for the Cure Night to raise money for cancer research.
