Chargers End 5-Game Slide With Win at Monmouth JV

Jan. 22, 2013
MONMOUTH—The Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak with a 63-54 victory at Monmouth JV on Monday.

Sophomore guard Makenzie Frank (Knoxville) led the Chargers with 15 points, freshman forward Lexa Mahr (Macomb) added 13 and freshman forward Marysa Remick (ROWVA) scored 10 for the Chargers (6-11).

Sandburg led 28-19 at halftime. Tiffany Churchill scored a game-high 21 for the Fighting Scots.

“I thought we played pretty well,” Chargers coach Mike Bailey said. “Churchill hit some deep 3s to keep them in the game, but our execution down the stretch was good enough to finally win a game.”

Sandburg hosts Illinois Valley at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at John M. Lewis Gymnasium in an Arrowhead Conference contest.
