ELGIN—The Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team extended its winning streak to five games with a 71-57 nonconference victory at Elgin on Saturday.

Sophomore guard Seth Wickert (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) had a team-leading 16 points and freshman guard Dylan Ervin (Washington, Ind./Washington) scored a season-high 12 for the Chargers (15-6), who lead 28-18 at halftime.

“Today was a big win for us. Elgin is very good on their home court and I thought our guys played hard all game,” Sandburg coach Ryan Twaddle said. “I was very happy to keep Elgin to 57 total points on their own court. Elgin is very well coached and I am proud of our guys by coming out of there with a win.”

The Chargers return to Arrowhead Conference play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Black Hawk. Sandburg returns home to host conference leader Highland at 3 p.m. Saturday at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.
