FREEPORT—Caitlyn Godfrey had a team-best 17 kills and six blocks, but the Carl Sandburg College volleyball team ended its season with a 25-16, 22-25, 25-20, 25-17 loss at Highland on Wednesday in the opening round of the Region IV tournament.

The Chargers (14-18) never trailed in the second set to even the match at a set apiece, but Highland used a 5-0 run in the third and a 7-1 stretch in the fourth to put the match away.

Godfrey, who had been named to the all-Region IV team earlier in the week, led Sandburg in her final match. Sophomore outside hitter Mercedes Sazone added 10 kills and two blocks, and sophomore libero Dani Lessard had 15 digs for the Chargers. Freshman setter Lexa Mahr had a team-high 26 assists to go with kills, seven digs and a block for Sandburg.
