GALESBURG—Carl Sandburg College volleyball player Caitlyn Godfrey has been voted to the all-Region IV Division II District A team.

Godfrey, a 6-foot middle hitter from Princeville, leads the Chargers this season in kills (376), kills per set (3.62), attack attempts (695), aces (38) and solo blocks (64). She’s also second on the team with a .393 attack percentage and her 132 digs rank fourth.

“This was a goal of mine going into this season, so it’s exciting to be named to the team,” Godfrey said. “I just want to come out and give my best every match. Knowing I’ll leave here with an honor like this is a great feeling.”

Godfrey earned all-Arrowhead Conference and all-Region IV tournament honors as a freshman last season, when she averaged 1.76 kills per set. The Chargers (14-17) open postseason play at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Highland in a Region IV tournament match.

Rosie Aumann (Kishwaukee), Courtney Blair (Highland), Janelle Gerds (Kishwaukee), Katelyn Haskin (Highland), MacKenzie Johnson (Kishwaukee), Kalli Scheppers (Sauk Valley), Kelley Wallace (Black Hawk) and Crystalynn Washkowiak (Illinois Valley) joined Godfrey on the all-Region IV team. Johnson, Scheppers and Wallace were unanimous selections.
