Bolliger, Foley Each Place 8th at Sauk Valley

DIXON—Haley Bolliger and Derek Foley each posted eighth-place finishes to lead the Carl Sandburg College cross country teams at the Sauk Valley Invite on Saturday.


Bolliger crossed the line in the 5-kilometer women’s race in 20 minutes, 46 seconds to pace the Chargers, who finished seventh in the team standings with 161 points. Sophomore Sara Pille finished in 21:41 for 23rd place, and sophomore Lindsay Beach was 34th in 22:38. Freshman Abbie Billeter also posted a top-50 time for Sandburg, finishing 46th in 23:50. Other finishers for the Chargers were Tori Briggs (54th, 24:36), freshman Amber Schlomer (62nd, 25:14) and freshman Sarah Baum (71st, 30:28).


Judson’s Meaghan Gard won the race in 19:18, and Judson ran away with the team title, totaling 49 points to runner-up College of DuPage’s 94.


Foley’s time of 28:24 led Sandburg in the 8-kilometer men’s race. Freshman Jeff Hilgenberg was 33rd in 30:13, and Sean Hatfield took 79th in 57:33 for the Chargers.


College of DuPage won the team title with 34 points while Judson was second with 74. Sergio Miranda, running unattached, was the individual winner with a time of 27:06.


Sandburg’s next race is the Region IV championship meet Oct. 27, also at Sauk Valley.
