Bolliger Breaks Sandburg Record at NJCAA National Meet

INA—Carl Sandburg College women’s cross country runner Haley Bolliger shattered the school record at the NJCAA Division I national meet Saturday at Rend Lake College.


Bolliger, a freshman from Tremont, finished the 5-kilometer race in 19 minutes, 47.3 seconds to place 42nd out of 295 runners. Bolliger’s time broke the previous record of 20:04 set by Jessica Hanson at the 2007 national meet, which took place on the same course.


Sandburg’s Derek Foley, a sophomore from Galva, completed the 8-kilometer men’s race in 29:09.5 to place 152nd out of 286 runners.


Central Arizona won the men’s team title with 51 points, easily beating runner-up Spartanburg Methodist’s 104 points. Iowa Central’s Stanley Kebenei was the individual men’s champion with a time of 25:02.6.


Iowa Central claimed the women’s team title with 40 points. Central Arizona was second with 145 points. Darroneshia Lott of South Plains was the individual women’s champion with a time of 17:48.4.
