GALESBURG—Katie McGee of Galesburg High School and Samantha Roth of Stark County High School have signed to play next season for the Carl Sandburg College volleyball team.

McGee, a 5-foot-9 right side hitter, was an honorable mention All-Western Big 6 Conference selection as a senior last fall. McGee also will play for the Chargers’ softball team next season. A pitcher for the Silver Streaks, she finished third in the WB6 in strikeouts in 2011.

GALESBURG—Jacob Wolf of Galesburg High School and David Kantor of Mercer County High School have signed to run next season for the Carl Sandburg College men’s cross country team.


Wolf was a two-year member of the Silver Streaks’ boys cross country team. He helped Galesburg qualify for the Class 2A sectional meet as a senior last fall.

GALESBURG—Three recently graduated Carl Sandburg College student-athletes and the Sandburg women’s basketball team have earned honors from the NJCAA for their outstanding performance in the classroom during the 2012-2013 academic year.

GALESBURG—Thirty-seven Carl Sandburg College student-athletes from nine different sports — including six student-athletes who participated in multiple sports — earned academic All-Arrowhead Conference honors for their performances in the classroom during the 2012-2013 academic year. GALESBURG—The Carl Sandburg College Foundation will host the 19th annual Train, Toy and Model Airplane Show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 22 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 23 on the Main Campus in Galesburg, 2400 Tom L. Wilson Blvd., as part of Galesburg Railroad Days.

SCOTTSBORO, Ala.—The Carl Sandburg College men’s golf team posted its best finish in program history and tied the school record for lowest total score during the final round of the NJCAA Division II national tournament Friday at Goose Pond Colony.


The Chargers tied Clarendon (Texas) for 12th in the tournament, and their four-day total of 1,222 matched that of the 2011 team that placed 14th, the school’s previous best overall finish.
