FREEPORT—Caitlyn Godfrey had a team-best 17 kills and six blocks, but the Carl Sandburg College volleyball team ended its season with a 25-16, 22-25, 25-20, 25-17 loss at Highland on Wednesday in the opening round of the Region IV tournament.

 

The Chargers (14-18) never trailed in the second set to even the match at a set apiece, but Highland used a 5-0 run in the third and a 7-1 stretch in the fourth to put the match away.

GALESBURG—Carl Sandburg College volleyball player Caitlyn Godfrey has been voted to the all-Region IV Division II District A team.

 

Godfrey, a 6-foot middle hitter from Princeville, leads the Chargers this season in kills (376), kills per set (3.62), attack attempts (695), aces (38) and solo blocks (64). She’s also second on the team with a .393 attack percentage and her 132 digs rank fourth.

BYRON—The Carl Sandburg College men’s golf team qualified for the NJCAA Division II national tournament for the third time in four years after finishing second at the Region IV tournament Oct. 6 at PrairieView Golf Course.

GALESBURG—The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team picked up a much-needed victory and raised money for a much-needed cause Wednesday night at John Lewis Gymnasium.
