Teaching Philosophy / Personal Statement
I believe that learning is an active relationship between learner and facilitator. I believe in clear objectives and high expectations. I believe that students must be self motivated and active participants. I aspire to be a role model, a guide on the side, assisting and facilitating learning as the student progresses from concrete to abstract knowledge of the use of the nursing process and the art of nursing. I believe the words of Thomas Carruthers: “A teacher is one who makes himself progressively unnecessary.”
