Associate in Science in Agriculture Degree

 

(Emphasis in Agriculture)

 

The following curriculum is designed to satisfy the basic lower division requirements for agriculture majors at most senior institutions. The agriculture classes listed below are offered in partnership with the University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign, through a blend of Internet-based instruction and specially scheduled lab days to complete the agriculture transfer course requirements. Students enrolling in this curriculum are urged to meet with an advisor at the senior institution to review course selections and transfer plans.

 

I. AGRICULTURE MAJOR — (12 semester hours)

Choose 3 courses from the following courses:
AGR 121, 131, 141, 151, 181

 

II. GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS — (41 semester hours)

  1. Communications — (9 semester hours) ENG 101 & 102 — (6 semester hours)* *grades of "C" or better required for both courses SPE 120 — (3 semester hours)
  2. Humanities — (9 semester hours)
    Select one course from Fine Arts:
    ART 111, 112, 113; MUS 100, 101, 105; THE 110, 111
    Select one course from Humanities:
    ENG 160, 170, 180, 221, 222, 231, 232, 240;
    (Select three additional hours from either Humanities or Fine Arts)
  3. Social Sciences — (9 semester hours)
    Select from the following courses:
    ECO 101, 201, 202; GEO 100, 110; HIS 105, 106, 125, 126; POS 122, 223, 228, 267; PSY 101, 204, 206, 221, 265; SOC 101, 102, 103, 105, 201, 203, 260; SSC 120 (Must select one or more courses from 3 subject areas)
    Science/Mathematics — (14 semester hours)
  4. Science — (8 semester hours)*
    Select one from Life Sciences: BIO 101, 102, 103, 120, 205
    Select one from Physical Sciences: CHM 100, 110; ESC 100; PHY 130, 151 *at least one course must be a lab course
    Math — (6 semester hours) Select from the following courses: MAT 109, 110, 112, 131, 132, 210, 240, 241, 242; SSC 120

 

III. ELECTIVES — (8 semester hours)
Choose 11 credit hours from any elective area. Credit hours may come from additional agriculture major courses. CIS 112 is recommended.

 

IV. OTHER REQUIREMENTS — (3 semester hours)
Human Relations Course — Select from one of the following courses: ART 111, 113; ENG 160, 170, 180, 221, 222; GEO 100, 110; HIS 125, 126; MUS 100, 101, 105, 200; PHL 102, 103; PSY 204, 272; SOC 101, 102, 105, 201, 202, 203, 260; SPE 110; THE 110

MINIMUM CREDIT HOURS FOR COMPLETION — 64 SEMESTER HOURS

 

Additional UIUC Requirements:

  • All transfer applicants must have completed either three years of one language other than English in high school or through the second level (2 semesters) of one language other than English in college prior to the desired term of entry.
  • The college's graduation requirement is satisfied by completion through the third year of one language other than English in high school or through the third level (3 semesters) of one language other than English in college.
  • If General Chemistry II is required for degree completion, it is strongly recommended that General Chemistry II (CHM 120) be completed prior to transfer .
