Administrative Assistant - Peoria, IL (6/22/17)
Parker and Parker Attorneys seeks to hire a full-time administrative assistant. We are a Peoria law firm located across from the Peoria County Courthouse. Our practice is limited almost exclusively to trial work in the areas of family law, nursing home neglect, and personal injury. Recently, a longtime employee of 35 years retired. We have two other full-time paralegals and are seeking an administrative assistant to join the team. There are three attorneys, and this job would interact in some degree with all three attorneys. Our goal is always to have a cohesive office that communicates well internally. So, for the job, we don’t just look at skills and experience; your personality and innate talents to be personable, accurate, organized, detail oriented, collaborative, and focused are important.

The most difficult part of this job will be managing a large number of files. Therefore, please expect the following as part of the job:

  • There is a lot of paper in the way of discovery, pleadings, and correspondence, and it’s critical for files (both physical and digital) and their filing to stay up-to-date;
  • We make and receive a lot of phone calls;
  • We use Word and Clio constantly; there are two younger attorneys who are tech-fluent, and we need you to be able to navigate software well together with us;
  • Attention to detail, which plays out in a myriad different ways: catching court dates that are stamped on filings and making sure they make the right calendar, proofing your typing (or ours, which is often run through Dragon dictation software, and only needs editing), anticipating time commitments when doing calendaring for attorneys - as some examples;
  • Communicating with executives, physicians, attorneys, business owners, etc. in a professional, clear, articulate, and accurate manner;
  • Maintaining confidentiality; and
  • Coordinating the needs and demands of the attorneys and our clients to establish a workable schedule.

This is a full-time position with health insurance, a retirement and profit-sharing plan, and vacation. It is often a fast-paced environment. We would anticipate conducting interviews over the next few weeks. Thank you for your time and interest.
