WHAT DOES A HISTORY MAJOR DO?
While historians have a history degree, students who major in history do not always become historians! In fact, many history majors go on to become museum curators, librarians, archivists, attorneys, researchers, and teachers, to name a few. One of the fastest growing fields in history is historic preservation. This is someone who is in the business of restoring or preserving anything of an historical nature, from national parks to tourism bureaus to housing districts.

Pursuing a history major makes you marketable in a variety of careers. The skills acquired through your education, such as research, writing, analysis, and interdisciplinary thinking make you a viable candidate for many different types of jobs.
