Oxy-Fuel Welding

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Oxy-Fuel Welding certificate is an approved program for Sandburg; however, we are not enrolling new students while we review program updates to offer the best educational opportunities for our students.The American Welding Society Level 1 Certificate may be of interest to you. The Oxy-Fuel Welding Certificate program is designed to enable the graduate to succeed in employment as a welder in industry. The graduate will be proficient in oxy-acetylene welding and cutting, arc welding, and reading blueprints. Students receive various levels of welding proficiency after successfully completing tests which measure their welding skills.

 

Admissions Requirements

Oxy-Fuel Welding certificate is an open enrollment program, meaning there is no criteria students must meet to be admitted. Students who are interested in enrolling in this program should complete our steps to enroll, which includes completing the free application for admission.

We encourage all prospective students to visit campus. We have several Explore Sandburg Open Houses throughout the year, or you can schedule a campus visit at your convenience.

Employment

The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates a 14% employment growth of pipefitters and steamfitters from now to 2028. The increase in employment is expected due to workers exiting the labor force for the purpose of retirement or workers seeking new occupations. 2019 Median Pay: $55, 160 per year; $26.52 per hour

Thanks to our generous donors, Carl Sandburg College Foundation is able to award over $100,000 each year in scholarship dollars to Sandburg students. High school, adult learners and returning students - everyone is eligible to apply. Apply between October 1 and March 15 for the upcoming year. We encourage all students to apply.
