Find Books & More

Use the Carl Sandburg College Library catalog to find out if a book, ebook, audiobook, DVD, or other type of item is in one of the libraries at Sandburg (Galesburg and Carthage locations are included).

Instructions below include normal checkout procedures. For checkout procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic, see our Sandburg Library Reopening Plans LibGuide. Please note that our stacks are closed until further notice, but you may still use the directions below to locate items in the catalog and request staff to retrieve items for you. Make your request at the front desk or contact library staff at or 309.341.5257. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

When searching the new catalog, several "article" and "journal" options will show up in the results. Most links to these items will not work until further notice. We hope to have links to our electronic resources up and running by Fall 2020. Please direct any questions or concerns to Rebecca Eaton at or 309.341.5290.

If you do not find the items you need in the Sandburg Library catalog, or if you cannot determine the location of the item, please ask a library staff member for assistance. You may repeat the search on I-Share to search from 89 other Illinois libraries.

The Sandburg Library participates in state and national interlibrary loan systems, which makes obtaining materials from other libraries possible. Consult a staff member with questions about any aspect of the interlibrary borrowing service.

The I-Share catalog includes the resources of 89 Illinois libraries that belong to CARLI. Several I-Share institutions remain closed for the summer and some will not open for the fall and possibly spring semesters due to COVID-19. This means resource sharing may be limited, so please plan accordingly.

To request or renew items, you log in with your Sandburg e-mail and password, just as you would log in to your mySandburg portal. Please note that "requesting" in the new catalog will be enabled the week of July 20th. As the catalog is brand new as of June 24th, there might be technical issues with requesting. Please contact to report any problems with requests in the catalog. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete our catalog migration.

To find journal or reference articles, search our other databases.
