IT LAN & Security Specialist

Students interested in the IT field should consider the following stackable certificates:

Become a leader in the IT field by earn the IT LAN & security specialist AAS. By completing this program, you will also earn the computer support associate, computer technician and Cisco network security associate certificates without any additional requirements. Dual credit courses in this program are available, too, so you can start it while still in high school.

Students learn to manage, administer, protect and defend organizations’ critical information and cyber-infrastructure systems through practical training and hands-on experiences. Students completing this degree are prepared to take the industry-based certifications such as Cisco, A+ Certification, CompTIA Security and a wide range of other Microsoft certifications.

Information and communications technology (ICT) courses are available online or as a multiple-modality. Multiple-modality courses provide students with the option to sit in a traditional classroom, attend online or attend a scheduled class using Skype or a telepresence robot.

First-Time Enrollees

  • Complete an application for admission and, if desired, apply for financial aid.
  • Send an official high school transcript or GED score report to the Admissions and Records Office.
  • Complete the Accuplacer placement exam.
  • Meet with an advisor/counselor to select classes and complete the registration process.


Computer Information Systems Course Completion Requirement

For credit toward degree requirements, all ICT courses must have been completed during the five school years preceding conference of the degree or must have the approval of the Associate Dean of Career, Technical, and Health Education Programs or Program Coordinator.

The Sandburg Tech Squad mission is to actively participate and promote knowledge and skills within the information communication technology field throughout our club activities. Members work to become leaders and set examples for the community as professionals in valuing our lifelong learning process while helping and providing services to the whole campus community.
