AMERICAN WELDING SOCIETY - LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATE

The American Welding Society certificate is designed to provide students with technical skills needed to become a level 1 certified welder. The graduate will be proficient in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, OFC, OAW, PAC, and GTAW procedures, mathematic calculations and reading blueprints. Students receive various levels of welding proficiency after successfully completing tests which measure their welding skills.

2015 Median Pay: $38,150 per year; $18.34 per hour

Employment change 2014 - 2024: 14, 400 positions available

ADMISSION TO THE PROGRAM:  OPEN

FIRST-TIME ENROLLEES

  1. Complete an application for admission and, if desired, apply for financial aid.
  2. Send an official high school transcript or GED score report to the Admissions and Records Office.
  3. Complete the placement exam.
  4. Meet with an advisor/counselor to select classes and complete the registration process.
