Harvesting Dreams is designed to increase the recruitment, retention and academic success of African American at students at Carl Sandburg. The program explores some of the issues and challenges facing African American students, and develops strategies to enhance personal, academic and career success. The program assists in the training and development of student leader and mentors that will participate in activities designed to assist African American students in the community. The program allows its participants to engage in group dialogue and activities that reduce self-handicapping behaviors, and promote the successful transition to college. Speaker, and workshops, will impact information that will heighten awareness and prepare participants to enhance their success by giving tools that promote college and career success.
