GALESBURG—Carl Sandburg College and the University of Illinois Springfield Peoria Center on Monday signed an agreement that offers a new transfer option for students studying accounting and business administration.
Under the partnership, students who graduate from Sandburg with their associate degree can transfer their credits to the UIS Peoria Center to complete their bachelor’s in accounting or business administration in just two more years.
“We’re creating an opportunity for our students where they can have a seamless transition to a wonderful institution,” said Julie Gibb, vice president of academic services at Sandburg. “To have access to a fantastic education, amazing faculty, great internship opportunities and in an affordable way is very exciting.”
Tuition for the 2013-2014 academic year at the UIS Peoria Center for full-time students taking 12 credit hours would cost $9,178, and that rate would be locked in for three years. Also, students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and have at least a 3.75 grade point average will receive a grant of $5,000 per year.
“This is a great partnership to be able to have with Carl Sandburg,” said Dr. Joyce Shotick, director of the UIS Peoria Center. “We’re looking forward to making a streamlined opportunity for students to finish their associate degree here and come right over to Peoria.”

Sandburg also has partnerships in place with Bellevue University, Franklin University, Illinois State University, Knox College, Monmouth College, St. Ambrose University, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Western Illinois University,
