GALESBURG—Carl Sandburg College will offer a new program in e-Business starting with the 2013 fall semester.
This two-year program is intended for persons who desire a career with an Internet-based company or a company with an online shopping presence. Those who successfully complete this degree will be able to work in a wide variety of business fields involving electronic trade. E-Business graduates will be skilled in web design, marketing, advertising and business law specific to Internet business.
“The program is designed to allow entrepreneurs who want to start an e-Business to start selling something online or assist existing businesses in our district to create an online presence,” said Keith Williams, coordinator of business programs. “It opens up the world as a market.”
Many of the courses offered through the e-Business program, including those designed specifically for the degree, are offered online. This program is different from most other business programs at Sandburg because it blends technology with business, giving students skills to keep up with advances in the field. The degree will span three semesters plus an additional summer semester for a total of 66 credit hours.
“The program gives more options to people,” Williams said. “It helps them reach the rest of the world. Here in west-central Illinois, our opportunities are limited, but e-Business creates new opportunities.”
