GALESBURG—Carl Sandburg College political science and history instructor Lara Roemer has been named a Phi Theta Kappa 2014 Faculty Scholar. Roemer was one of 26 community college instructors selected through an application process regarding the 2014-2015 Honors Study Topic, “Frontiers and the Spirit of Exploration,” and for excellence in teaching.
Roemer will attend the annual Faculty Scholar Conference in the British Virgin Islands Jan. 29-Feb. 2. The scholars will also serve as facilitators during Phi Theta Kappa’s Honors Institute, a professional development program for community college faculty members, June 16-21 at Washington University on St. Louis.
Phi Theta Kappa is an honor society for two-year college students that recognizes academic excellence and encourages individual growth through leadership and service opportunities.
