GALESBURG—Carl Sandburg College will host a College-2-Career Open House from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Carl Sandburg College Student Center in Building B at the Main Campus in Galesburg, 2400 Tom L. Wilson Blvd.
The event includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m. in the new science labs, which recently underwent renovations, as well as tours of the Center for Manufacturing Excellence in Building G, to view a new locomotive engine, cranes, TIG welders, a biofuels simulator and equipment for the new career programs at the College.
The open house includes discussions and demonstrations on the College’s new programs, which include e-Business; EMS-paramedic; basic industrial and manufacturing maintenance; biofuels manufacturing technology; diesel power technology; personal, home care and home health aide; rail/off-highway motive powered electrical technician; and welding.
Visitors can also explore Sandburg’s university studies programs, which offer associate degrees in arts, science, fine arts and agriculture. Faculty, staff and students will be on hand to answer questions about specific programs, discuss possible career opportunities and assist with steps to register for classes. There will be activities, door prizes and refreshments.
