Sandburg Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month Sept. 15–Oct. 15

GALESBURG—Carl Sandburg College will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month from Sept. 15-Oct. 15 with a series of speakers and events in the Crist Student Center in Building B on the Main Campus in Galesburg, 2400 Tom L. Wilson Blvd.

Jeff Pacheco, CEO of Falcon Safety Group. The Sandburg alumnus has more than 17 years of experience in leadership, safety consulting and human resources.

“Boxcar People” documentary viewing
In the early 20th century, many of Galesburg’s railroad workers were Mexicans recruited by contractors. At one point, an estimated 80 children from 15 families made homes in boxcar communities in Galesburg. Written and produced by Will and Luz Schick of Galesburg, “Boxcar People” tells the stories of people striving for the American dream.
