Chargers Lose to Kougars in Regular Season Finale

MALTA—The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team closed its regular season with a 25-18, 25-18, 25-21 loss at 16th-ranked Kishwaukee on Tuesday in Arrowhead Conference action.


Freshman setter Lexa Mahr led the Chargers with 26 assists and five digs, and sophomore middle hitter Caitlyn Godfrey had team-highs of 10 kills and two blocks for Sandburg.


Freshman outside hitter Courtney Learned added six kills and sophomore outside hitter Mercedes Sazone had five kills, eight digs and a pair of aces for Sandburg. Sophomore libero Dani Lessard tied Sazone with a team-leading eight digs.


The Chargers will open the Region IV playoffs on Oct. 31.
