MOLINE—Black Hawk handed the Carl Sandburg College softball team a pair of Arrowhead Conference losses Tuesday, beating the Chargers 8-1 and 14-10.
Sandburg tied Game 1 on an RBI single by Kaylee Moseley (Rockridge) in the top of the fourth, but the Braves scored four two-out runs in their half of the inning to go back ahead. Freshman Megan Hobson (Limestone) held Black Hawk to three earned runs on nine hits in six innings. She struck out three and walked four.
Down 9-4 in Game 2, the Chargers tied it with a five-run sixth that included RBIs by Justine Bodenhamer (Avon), Moseley and Tygan Cole (West Carroll). Black Hawk, though, came right back with five runs in the bottom of the inning to pull out the victory.
Moseley and Hannah Mixer (Burlington, Iowa) each drove in a pair of runs for Sandburg, and Corinne Heins (Lowpoint-Washburn) finished 4 for 5 at the plate. Mixer took the loss in the circle, allowing nine runs on 13 hits in four innings.
The Chargers are on the road today for another Arrowhead doubleheader when they face Illinois Valley at 3 p.m.
