GALESBURG—Destinee Oenes of Amboy High School and Danielle Harper of Lewistown High School have signed to play next season for the Carl Sandburg College softball team.
Oenes, a 5-foot-3 third baseman/pitcher, helped lead the Clippers to a 22-11 record and fourth-place finish in the Class 1A state tournament as a senior this past spring. The state tournament appearance was Amboy’s first in school history, and Oenes’ walk-off home run against Orangeville also lifted the Clippers to their first sectional championship.
Oenes finished the year with a .359 batting average, 20 RBIs, 26 runs scored, six doubles, a triple and four homers. In the circle, she finished with a 5-1 record after posting a 2.68 ERA in 53 1/3 innings while striking out 33 and walking 25. Her performance as a senior eared her All-Three Rivers Conference North Division honorable mention honors.
Harper, a 5-6 outfielder, helped Lewistown to a 15-12 record and Class 1A regional championship appearance this spring. She spent three years at Canton before joining the Indians for her senior season.
