GALESBURG—Carl Sandburg College softball players Jordyn Chasteen (Canton), Hannah Johnson (Illinois Valley Central), Kaylee Moseley (Rockridge), Corinne Heins (Lowpoint-Washburn) and Danielle Kenney (Stark County) have earned accolades for their outstanding play for the Chargers this season.
Chasteen was an All-Arrowhead Conference and first-team All-Region IV District A selection. Johnson and Moseley each were named to the all-region second team, and Heins and Kenney joined Chasteen in earning all-conference honors.
Chasteen, a sophomore shortstop, was named to the all-conference and all-region teams for the second consecutive year after topping the Chargers in almost every offensive category. She led Sandburg in batting average (.396), on-base percentage (.439), slugging percentage (.681), home runs (7), runs (43), doubles (14), triples (3), extra-base hits (24) and hits (57) while playing in all 46 games this season. Her 30 RBIs were good for second on the team.
Moseley, a sophomore catcher, led Sandburg with 32 RBIs and scored 21 runs while batting .301 in 45 games. She also provided sound defense behind the plate, committing just two errors and posting a .986 fielding percentage.
Johnson, a sophomore outfielder, played in all 46 games and was second on the team with a .400 on-base percentage and two home runs. She also placed third on the team in batting (.336), RBIs (25) and slugging (.451). Johnson’s 67 putouts were the most among Sandburg outfielders, and she also had a pair of outfield assists.
Heins, a sophomore outfielder, batted .308 with 16 RBIs and 34 runs scored in 45 games. She also had a team-leading eight steals in eight attempts.
A freshman designated player, Kenney had 31 hits in 31 games and finished with a .337 average. She drove in 14 runs, scored 15 times and had a .478 slugging percentage, good for second on the team.
