GALESBURG—The Carl Sandburg College men’s and women’s basketball teams’ Arrowhead Conference games scheduled for tonight at Highland have been postponed to Wednesday.

 

The women’s game will tip off at 5 p.m. Wednesday, followed by the men’s game at 7 p.m.

MALTA—The Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team had a six-point halftime lead, but 10th-ranked Kishwaukee rallied to hand the Chargers a 72-62 loss on Saturday afternoon in Arrowhead Conference play.

 

Sandburg (12-8, 2-2) led 30-24 at halftime. Sophomore forward Mitch Wendling (Athens, Ill./Athens) led the Chargers with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting, and sophomore guard Juwan Hubbard (Rockford, Ill./Guilford) added 17 points for Sandburg.

MALTA—Nationally ranked Kishwaukee jumped to a big first-half lead and went on to beat the Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team 60-36 on Saturday afternoon in Arrowhead Conference play.

 

Freshman forwards Alex Strom (Victoria, Ill./Galva) and Julia Isenhour (Clinton, Iowa/Prince of Peace) each had seven points to lead the Chargers (8-8, 1-2), who have three losses to nationally ranked opponents this season.

Also, the free concert by the Doane College Jazz and Symphonic Wind Ensemble scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 27 in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Main Campus in Galesburg has been canceled because of inclement weather.

GALESBURG—The Carl Sandburg College men’s and women’s basketball home games scheduled for Jan. 23 against Kishwaukee that were postponed have been rescheduled for Saturday afternoon at Kishwaukee. The women’s game will start at 1 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 3 p.m.
 

The teams’ games originally scheduled for Feb. 18 at Kishwaukee will now be at home for Sandburg, with the women’s game at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.

OGLESBY—The Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team couldn’t come back after getting off to a slow start in a 78-72 Arrowhead Conference loss Thursday at Illinois Valley.
