GALESBURG—An opening reception featuring new works by local artist Larry Jon Davis will take place 6-8 p.m. Jan. 23 in the Building D Gallery on Carl Sandburg College’s Main Campus in Galesburg, 2400 Tom L. Wilson Blvd.

GALESBURG—The Carl Sandburg College Literacy Coalition is seeking volunteers for tutoring. Training sessions will take place from 1-5 p.m. Jan. 18, Jan. 25 and Feb. 1 in Room 103 of George Davis Hall on the campus of Knox College.
 

Once trained, volunteers can tutor students one-on-one, in small groups or in classrooms and assist with specific projects and events. Training is free of charge, and books and materials for tutoring are provided at no cost....

GALESBURG—Carl Sandburg College has released the names of students who qualified for the dean’s list and honors list for the 2014 fall semester.
 

To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours) and earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale). To qualify for the honors list, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a grade point average of 3.0 to 3.49.
