GALESBURG—Carl Sandburg College has been named the national champion in the Small Colleges Category of the eighth annual Digital Community Colleges Survey by e.Republic’s Center for Digital Education. BYRON—The Carl Sandburg College men’s golf team qualified for the NJCAA Division II national tournament for the third time in four years after finishing second at the Region IV tournament Oct. 6 at PrairieView Golf Course.

GALESBURG—The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team picked up a much-needed victory and raised money for a much-needed cause Wednesday night at John Lewis Gymnasium.
 

The Chargers beat Black Hawk 25-19, 11-25, 26-24, 25-13 in an Arrowhead Conference match and donated proceeds from their Pink Out Night to Braves coach Mary Davis, a breast cancer survivor who is now battling bone cancer.

SUGAR GROVE—The Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team was shut out 5-0 by Waubonsee on Saturday in a Region IV Champions Division match to close the regular season.

GALESBURG—The Carl Sandburg College Foundation has awarded the Galesburg Police Benevolent & Protective Association Unit 19/Bill Herrin Memorial Scholarship to Sandburg student Jacob Morrison of North Henderson.

 

Morrison was awarded a $500 scholarship for the 2012-2013 academic year. This scholarship is awarded to a full-time criminal justice student with a minimum 2.5 grade point average.

GALESBURG—The Carl Sandburg College Foundation has awarded the Rebecca Parke Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution scholarships to students Kelly Adams, Rebecca Taylor and Thomas Tribbett, all of Galesburg.

 

All three scholarships are awarded for the 2012-2013 academic year. Adams and Tribbett each received $500 scholarships and Taylor received a $200 scholarship.
