Charge Up! New Student Orientation
Charge Up! New Student Orientations are on campus orientation sessions offered each semester leading up to the start of classes for new students. Your counselor can register you for an orientation session at your first advisement session. Multiple dates and time options are offered each semester and sessions last approximately two and a half hours. Sessions are meant for new students to help familiarize them with campus and Carl Sandburg College life as a whole, portions of Charge Up! include:

Departmental Orientation Programs
Students accepted or placed on the alternate list for the following programs are required to attend a mandatory program orientation: Computed Tomography, Cosmetology, Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Medical Assisting, Nuclear Medicine Technology and Radiologic Technology. Information about the mandatory orientation will be communicated to the student after applications for admission to each respective program are reviewed. The meetings will be held soon after the admission meeting for each respective program.
The mandatory orientation encompasses various activities to help the student be more successful in the professional course of study. Students will have the opportunity to meet with the respective program coordinator, student services personnel, the Dean of the department, and other College support staff. Registration for both program-specific and general education courses will be included as is a general orientation for the respective program. Students will get information on being a student at Carl Sandburg College as well as a better understanding of the expectations of being a health career program student.

Moodle Orientation is an online course that takes about one hour to complete. It can be found in Moodle, which is accessed through mySandburg. Moodle is the college’s course management system. All online and blended courses use it for course content delivery, testing, etc. Some face to face classes use it extensively as well. It will familiarize the student with Moodle navigation, assignments, quizzes, Grade book and various other tools that their instructors will expect them to know how to do. Once the orientation is complete, the student will receive a completion certificate which can be provided to requesting instructors. Students will only need to complete the orientation once.

Fitness Center Orientation
The Fitness Center is free for all students who remain enrolled in three credit hours or more throughout the semester. A brief orientation is required to use the facilities. The orientation involves filling out paperwork, learning how to log in, going over the rules and regulations, and a tour of the facilities. Stop by the Fitness Center for the orientation.
